PURPOSE
To quote, manage and direct various engineering projects. To maintain relationships with existing clients, and to develop new client relationships. Types of projects include substation and transmission line design, electrical power system studies, and electrical testing activities. To direct activities of electrical project engineers, electrical engineering technicians, and drafters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Work in a safe manner

- Quote projects within established pricing guidelines
- Understand company administrative and technical standards and processes
- Participate in ensuring support staff comply with administrative and technical standards and processes
- Participate in ongoing development of technical standards and processes
- Participate in the overall management of company project workload, project scheduling and support staff assignments
- Organize and manage projects
- Direct work of Electrical Project Engineers, Electrical Engineering Technicians, Drafters and other technical employees assigned on a per project basis
- Instruct Electrical Project Engineers and Electrical Engineering Technicians in details of performing specific project tasks
- Monitor financial status of projects and ensure projects are performed within budget
- Monitor progress of projects and ensure projects are performed within schedule
- Perform duties of Senior Electrical Project Engineer position as necessary for successful projects
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- BSEE from accredited ABET program
- Successful completion of Engineering Principles and Practice Examination
- High level of technical expertise in electrical power systems engineering
- Ten years experience
- Ability to use engineering packages to perform power systems analyses
- Ability to use AutoCAD.
- Ability to independently complete projects and complex tasks with a high level of accuracy
- Ability to mentor and educate less experienced engineers
- Must work cooperatively with others
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must adhere to company policies
- Must possess a driver’s license with a clean record.
- Must pass random drug screening tests.
PURPOSE
To assist the Testing Project Manager with various testing projects, training, and leadership tasks. To provide technical expertise on safety, testing equipment, and test procedures. To lead testing efforts. To expand and promote company testing and safety standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Work in a safe manner in accordance with company safety policies, NFPA 70E, and OSHA.
- Supervise the work of Electrical Testing Technicians I – IV in the field to assure safe work practices.
- Properly use and maintain basic tools and equipment as assigned by company.
- Properly use and maintain company vehicles.
- Properly use and maintain all electrical test instruments.
- Perform thermographic infrared inspections.
- Write thorough, complete and accurate test reports.
- Interpret test results and make appropriate recommendations based on test results. Types of testing projects will include:
- Relay testing
- Transformer testing
- MV cable testing
- Low, medium, and high voltage circuit breaker testing
- Substation battery testing
- Infrared testing
- Ground resistance testing
- Relay panel upgrades
- Direct and mentor Electrical Testing Technicians I – III.
- Comply with company administrative and technical processes.
- Provide expert technical assistance as needed on testing projects.
- Provide training assistance to Manager of Training in areas of technical expertise.
- Participate in ongoing development of technical standards and processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Associates degree in an approved Electrical Engineering Technology program or Electrical Testing program.
- Ten years of experience plus NETA Level III Certification.
- Must thoroughly understand applicable OSHA and NFPA 70E regulations.
- Ability to work efficiently with Microsoft products.
- Ability to communicate well with clients and co-workers.
- Ability to develop well-written reports.
- Must mentor and train Electrical Testing Technicians I – III.
- Must work cooperatively with others.
- Must show proper respect to all clients.

Purpose:
ELECT, P.C. defines a Senior Electrical Engineering Technician as a degreed electrical engineer who has not yet passed the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam but has at least four years of experience or an advanced degree. The Senior Electrical Engineering Technician will assist Electrical Project Engineers and Engineering Project Managers in various projects. Types of projects include substation design, electrical power system studies, and electrical testing activities.
Essential Duties:
- Develop the following per client specifications and scope of work provided by the project manager:
- Electrical one line, AC and DC elementary drawings for utility substations and industrial medium voltage systems
- Grounding drawings
- Electrical wiring diagrams
- Conduit and cable trench designs
- Conduit and cable schedules
- Perform electrical power systems studies tasks using engineering software packages for presentation to project manager (examples include: short circuit and protective coordination studies, arc flash incident energy analyses, and load flow studies)
- Perform engineering calculations related to power systems analysis and design
- Develop protective device settings in accordance with company standards, subject to review by project manager
- Develop specifications for electrical power equipment for presentation to project manager including:
- Power Transformers
- HV and MV circuit breakers
- Reclosers
- Switches
- Cables
- Review shop drawings to ensure conformance with plans and specifications
- Assist with electrical equipment testing activities (e.g., protective relay testing, LV/MV circuit breaker testing, transformer testing)
- Assist project managers in reviewing work of electrical engineering technicians, designers, drafters and interns
- Develop new testing procedures as directed by supervisor
- Provide task level direction to electrical engineering technicians, designers, drafters and interns
- Work in a safe manner
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- BSEE from an accredited ABET program + four years of experience, or MSEE from an accredited ABET program
- Successful completion of Engineering Fundamentals Examination
- Understanding of three-phase electrical power
- Understanding of electrical system protection concepts
- Understanding of electrical machinery theory
- Ability to use engineering software packages to perform power systems analyses
- Ability to use AutoCAD
- Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
- Must have good written and oral communication skills
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean record
- Must pass random drug screening tests
Purpose:
To perform electrical testing tasks under the general supervision of an Electrical Testing Technician III.
Essential Duties:
- Work in a safe manner in accordance with company safety policies.
- Properly use and maintain basic tools as assigned by company.
- Properly use and maintain company vehicles.
- Properly use basic electrical test instruments (e.g. Multimeter, megohmmeter, soil resistivity test set, transformer turns ratio tester)
- Properly use more complex electrical test instruments (e.g. protective relay test sets, primary current injection sets, battery impedance sets, circuit breaker time and travel sets, dc high potential sets, VLF sets).
- Perform thermographic infrared inspections
- Perform testing activities as directed by Electrical Test Technician III or Project Manager. Types of projects will include:
- Relay testing
- Transformer testing
- MV cable testing
- Low, medium, and high voltage circuit breaker testing
- Substation battery testing
- Infrared testing
- Ground resistance testing
- Relay panel upgrades
- Write thorough, complete, and accurate test reports
- Direct and mentor Electrical Testing Technicians I
- Comply with company administrative and technical processes
Qualifications:
- Associates degree in an approved Electrical Engineering Technology program or Electrical Testing program or equivalent experience (e.g. Army Prime Power, Navy Nuclear)
- Three years of experience plus NETA Level II certification, or ability to obtain NETA Level II certification within one year of hire date
- Ability to work efficiently with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to communicate well with clients and co-workers
- Ability to develop well-written reports
- Must work cooperatively with others
- Must show proper respect to all clients
- Must follow direction well
- Must possess a driver’s license with a clean record
- Must pass random drug screening tests
Minimum Educational Requirements: Electrical Project Engineers and Electrical Engineering Technicians are required to have obtained at least a BSEE from an accredited ABET program. All Electrical Testing Technicians must have at least an Associate’s Degree in an approved Electrical Engineering Technology program or Electrical Testing program. Experience in medium and high voltage equipment, testing, and analysis is a plus for all positions.
